Sounds awesome Joe - havent spoken in ages ... glad to hear ya back on ya feet ... so how far do u see this project going for the 4 speed e-series guys before the old auto needs to be strengthened or swapped out for a C9 combo etc

Hey Kev
yeh been a bit crook for a while but where getting there, mate my 4 speed Auto that I've built for Brett still hanging in there & drives his car like he's stollen it so if it can handle that up till know then I think you wont have a problem, untill you want to start making some serious hp but thats like with any engine, we're just about finished with Jase's C4 & thats another one for next year so theres a few cars thats going to turn some heads...... & MATT get your exhaust fixed !!.......oh those brakes are still stairing at me to.....one day they'll get done ??yeah.. when you have some "free hoist time"...

cheers

perhaps this will be the "e-series"SOHC engine to take the "fight" back to te DOHC BA i6's in the dyno comp's...

displacement VS twin cam...

If some rich bastard is willing to donate a few spare BA blocks so the twin cam can be punched out to 4.8 then the bar is raised yet again.
the BA block is different to the e-serries block.. BUT.. if the ba block can also be stroked.. then yes.. a 4.8 litre ba i6 with flash tuner/exhaust/intake.. extractors...under drives.. could push out 200RWK's..+++ -should do quite easily considering standard cappacity ba i6's are allready up around the 180-190 RWKW mark...

some have already hit 200rwkw.180-190 is quite common, but getting more you need twin TB's and stuff. gets pretty custom.

making 180kw@wheels in a ba is rather simple (not that cheap, but rather simple)

smiley has 178 and hasnt even got a cappa tuner.

No reason why not mate - it's the same still going to be the same block, so the same mods will need to be done to fit AU block to earlier model.
But the question is weather it'll be worth it as if so many changes have been done to the bottom end, it may stop the AU block from having any of the advantages it usually has over the earlier I6's.

in all the cases the blocks arn't the problems so E series the A or the B series are all fine, as I have a good supply of E series it was a cheaper option for me when it came to exprimenting.

So it would be a simple bore and port job + a few other loose ends on a B series or Phoon?

and you say you needed a cheap supply of blocks? i assume that you've seen pleantly of pistons on the dyno room floor and such?

theres a bit more to it than just a bore, mate I've got pistons & rods in places that I've forgotten that I've put them there.....also the reponece for a B series stroker maybe on the cards, but as I say.... these two need drive time & any issuses that pop up will need to get sorted out, if any ??

thanks

provided there is enough metal in the right places and enough clearence where it's needed, the same process should work on a Barra engine too.
