a 4000rpm power curve? must have a very broad lobe separation and/or low duration. Most cams will sacrfice bottom or top end for power |

yeah me and joe both can't figure that out we brought the cam in earlier to try and stop the power from hitting limiter but still does it and in every gear mined you. a few of the guys from here have seen it do it on the strip, will bounce 2 or 3 times off 6000rpm before it changes gear. so i now have learnt to drag it econ mode to stop it getting that high in the revs, but still bounced it from 1-2gear change in econ mode once on the strip. my mid to top end is real good just have to learn to throttle it. so how many auto do you know that can do that!!

with regards to the limmiter hitting, I think your shift points need to be adjusted to suit the 3.45 lsd. I understand that the lsd has been added and is not standard on your car? an Xr ecu would be an easy fix for that.

yeah i have the right speedo gear in for the 3.45 , it's just that the cam loves to rev. joe said i need another 500rpm to stop in hitting. my shift points are fine no problem there. i don't see it as a problem but more as the car loves to rev, i've learnt how to drag with it now it's all about my foot lol... the auto was built after the lsd went in so the box was built for the lsd no probs there.

speedo corrector modules are pretty cheap

Have you got any pics or details of what has been done to this CMS stage 4 head, i.e combustion chamber, short side radius, seat job, what head you started with.

Im guessing even though youve got the correct speedo cog to go with the diff ratio...... the ecu is still programmed for the wrong diff maybe a xr6 ecu will stop it bouncing. If that doesnt solve it then a speedo corrector on the cluster speedo output wire will let you fine tune shift points how you want |

i found that it only does it when my foot is flat to the floor when i lift it 5mm from the floor it changes at 5700rpm so no real issue with that just had to learn how to drive it like that.
xr ecu wont help tried it, as i've said before shift points are fine it's only at full throttle that the cam wants more rpm but you just have to watch the pedal.

I had a similar problem with my auto changing with the surcam race cam and well ported head.. smashing the limited 2-3 times before a massive chirp into 2nd the 4.11s helped that as well lol

So spoke to Joe this morning on the phone.
Regarding my setup it was said that Stage 3 isn't enough work to make the ports bigger for the forced induction, while stage 5 adds a lot of extra cost with little gain for boosted application. So stage 4 is just right. So the head is there getting the work done and he's got an experimental VCT cam shaft that were going to try. |
