G'day guys,
I am looking to spend a little bit on my EF and get a slight power increase with better fuel economy and after a little looking around it seems like this might be a good way to go. What do you guys think of the SS Inductions system? I've had a little bit of exhaust work done by one of their listed stockists and he'll sort me out with the right price and all that. http://www.ssinductions.com.au/efau6v8.htm So if that 'Big Mouth' system is a worthwhile investment I'll look at making that the next thing to do. Is there anything else I will need to look into when I do this? Any advice or opinions are much appreciated. Cheers lads |

they are VERY pricey..
you would be better off just getting a BA XR6 turbo snorkle. (around $40) rather than $450. If you have that kind of cash i'd recommend you get the exhaust done first. Extractors can be had for about $400 (pacemaker or genie are the popular ones) then get a catback system, 2.5 inch mandrel bent 1 muffler 1 resonator. that'll be around $300.

Thanks for the quick reply and advice, I'll definitely look into that. The BA XR snorkle would produce the same sort of power and fuel economy increase?
I already have the exhaust exactly as you suggested. That XR6 snorkle would be an ebay job or is there somewhere I can pick one up in Melbourne? |

can pick it up from ford themselves, but usually they charge quite a bit, either that or go to FTG (sponsor on these forums) good prices on their gear so you could just pay them a visit.
part from that, pick up a K&N panel filter, they flow a bit better and don't need to be replaced like the stock paper filter

f**k around $450 for a filter and a snorkle thats a joke
when u could get a k&n filter for $90 and a bigger snorkle for like $30 - $50 would perform just aswell dont waste your money on that s**t. and beware mate these things dont give a huge difference, 2 or 3 kW max

Agreed.
I have the typhoon duel intake and K&N filter on mine, despite what people say, I think it makes little to no difference. |

or u could cut a hole into your guard because it's not structual (don't quote me ) and duct your box to the front bar with a pod in the box.

You can go into any Supercheap auto and buy a FRAM performance panel air filter for $50, and the cleaning kit is $20. (if they don't have it in the store they have the stores that do on their computer)
The AU XR8 inlet snorkel is $40 from any Ford service centre (they'll get it in for you). There are fitting instructions on this forum. (You need to drill 3mm holes about 1cm closer to the edge of the lip but its a pretty easy squeeze in job) That is the cheapest way to get power and induction noise while retaining the factory look. Good luck.

I wouldn't bother with the SS inductions unless you want to work the motor a fair bit later down the track. They do work pretty well but there not worth the $315

ive also done the home job cold air intake by cutting out the guard and feeding a 4 inch aluminium air con tubing from the lower air box to the front bumper collecting the cold air stream... works well and is sooooo much cheaper!....

Sounds good, got any pics of how its setup? Ive currently added those 'speed holes' but its only working good on cold mornings and nights..no difference in the day. Induction noise is much better now though |

just cut a big MoFo hole out of the front face of the air box behind the headlight

the snokel has little effect if you don't modify your air box. you can have a snorkel running along the length of the bonnet but the airbox will still only let so much air through, the fitting on the tb side of the air box is the first thing to change. i have heard of people carving the center lip out of it but it would be better to piss it off all together and use a pod filter set up or if your budget stretches far enough get a pipe bent up. mine didn't so i made up some s**t myself using the standard elbows. i will post a pic up tomorrow and you can see the new adapter i made in my gallery ( i still have one of these actually if anyone is interested) i don't find these mods give any more power but increase drivability, throttle responce and makes the engine flow a little better.

if you have better throttle respnse, then yes you are making more power...
