I've been having some issues with my EL Fairmont ticking on cold starts. The car will tick until it has warmed up to normal temperature and the ticking can vary from a lightish ticking to a solid tick. I also noticed that it smells like fuel when it ticks and it sounds like it is missing (only when the ticking is solid). The car is running 20w-50 grade oil and has only had a service about 2,000kms ago.
Any suggestions will be appreciated. |

Sounds like hyd lifter noise or possibly the timing chain tensioner. How long does it take for the oil light to go out on a warm or cold start? You service it yourself?

The oil pressure is fine, usually sits around the 4 - 4.5 mark all the time and we get it serviced by a trusted mechanic. |
