hey guys been a bit slack lately although i have done some stuff. i went to harveys wreckers in somerville best wreckers ever btw unless you want high series stuff i stripped and el falcon interior and got the guys do cut the floor out so i returned home and unpicked the console mount out of the center of it, cut the console mounts from the eb and welded in the el piece, have finished all the doors bar one also changed the front two glass because mine were scratched and have too dark tint, cut the el loom and eb loom at the r/h back door and joind them with plugs from supercheap took a bit of time to work out how to do it i have a lot of notes if anyone is trying to do the same thing. started throwing the loom and and put the heater box back in.

Cheers benj go for it, they were pretty discolored very cheap mod and looks great imo.
Does anybody know where i can get the woodgrain pieces on the fairlane door trims. Tried ebay and wreckers they dont have any. Did they come out in any other color like silver or black seein as how i dislike woodgrain alot. |

Woodgrain only I am afraid.
It took me a long time to find a set in bad condition, but not broken, to paint, but I got there in the end. Cheers BenJ

hey guys well engine is out, engine bay is painted in black and some of the el loom has worked its way into the engine bay just stuck on whether or not to swap the h-k frame to the el one is it worth it? am i going to need it in there? I know the rack has to be changed i think because it is different height to the eb rack and im using the el column cant see any difference in suspension parts.

The EF/EL K Frame is considered to be more rigid. The lower control arm bushes are twice as big if not bigger compared to the EA-ED. Front strut bar bushes are also larger. Also will be heavier.
If you are considering an AU or BA engine conversion in the future, the K Frame will need to be notched. The EA-ED K Frame also would need modding though so a bit of a toss up there. And yes, you will need the EF/EL steering rack and column. In the end it is up to you. Cheers BenJ

well i decided to put the el k frame in because it looks better its painted black, now just sorting the rest of what i can use.
I noticed the sway bar from the nl fairlane ghia concorde is 1mm thicker naturally i used it. I was told the springs are stiffer and are like commodores fe2 suspension and will possibly sit the eb lower hard to believe because the fairlane is heavier can anybody confirm this? I also threw the dash in for the last time fingers crossed. by the way thank you benj for help with all you information its good practice to listen to a veteran!!

hey guys, i have been doing some work to the Eb lately have some of the interior back together, however went to fit the back seats and they don't fit because they are out of a Fairlane which i didn't even think about. with much contemplating i decided to recover the old side bolsters with grey vinyl, after much driving around i could not find any vinyl or leather to fit the same color as the original seats so i got the closest color i could find, later on i will have to just vinyl dye them the right color. so me and my lovely girlfriend stripped the old bolsters, traced the old pattern on the vinyl cut it out and started to pin it together. with a sowing machine borrowed from her mother and little to no experience she sowed the vinyl together. around the top where you don't see the vinyl didn't sit tight so we used some old material and packed it in there then i painfully put the old staples back in the whole exercise cost me a little over 30 bucks for enough material to do both back bolsters

i got the rear seats in today had to change the mounts. if anyone is interested i will post a tech doc on re trimming the bolsters and changing the mounts from fairlane to sedan vice versa also pinched some rear headrests from the nc fairlane with velour? trim in the backyard that's the next couple of pieces to get the trimming treatment the car is looking very sexy with the rear leather in it very comfy and matched with the door trims seats arnt the best but im sure it will end up being re trimmed got most of the front end back together too just need some brake lines off an el with abs (if anybody has some reasonably locally ill buy them if you don't want too much for them) and then the motor can go in getting pretty excited about it now its getting there and looking good will get some pics up of the back seats when the sun comes back up Cheers Damo |

did you think of using the leather from the fairlaine side bolsters to re-trim the originals
when i did the fairlaine interior swap luckily my fairmont bolsters were the same trim |
