Especially tryin to explain it to people of different mechanical knowledges. But on topic, leakdown tests are great if you can get your hands on quality gear. If you know any mechanics well they can probably help you out/may let you borrow (if they love you).

You said its low on power. You possibly cant feel it hesitating when it accelerates, and that usually only when you smash the throttle to the floor from idle at takeoff. It will pause for a second before taking off. Who did the timing check and was it done correctly? Cos most people out there don't know how to do it. Disco Frank wrote: arm79 wrote: He knows. I was trying to cover for you and help keep your image!!! A compression test will tell you certain things, and may indicate a cylinder is good when its not. A leakdown test will tell you how f**k - if it is - a cylinder is. When brand new, leakdown will be generally less than 5%. At this age, it will be 20 to 30%, and each cylinder may vary. |

Cos most people out there don't know how to do it. had it done twice, didnt seem to make much difference. the problem happened out of the blue one day. and it comes and goes, initially it wasnt too bad then the car stalled a few times when it was really hot. now its not so bad. but after taking the fuel pump out to inspect, it is a little worse again
