hey guys im lookin at converting my 6 cyl ef into v8, preferably au series 3 or even el v8, wanted to know if any one has done it before and what had to be changed

Probably been covered a few times.
I'm going to hazard a guess, I'm sure I'll be corrected where I'm wrong. -Motor will bolt up to original mounts, but your trans will need to be changed to a V8 item. Different input shaft length. -Engine wiring loom. -Dash loom? -ECU -Obvious bits like exhaust, coolant hoses etc. Generally a reasonably complete donor car is used to make the process alot less painful. |

But if you do convert... make sure you get an engine loom to suite both the car and engine. eg: we had a girl bring us a Non Smart Lock Non ABS EB for a V8 conversion. and supplies an engine loom that was made for smart lock and ABS. there was that much f**k around making a custom loom (mostly cos she didnt was to buy the right loom) to work with out ABS or smart lock, not to mention getting the TCM working with this loom was a nightmare. Just buy a V8 |

sounds like a big headache mite just keep the car and play with the 6 or wait till a gud el xr8 cums round or fairmont
