Hey guys.
Have spotted a worked head forsale that has definitely registered on my "might buy"-o-meter. The head was at least once definitely VCT due to the large circle on the front. Seller tells me that this portion of the head has been blocked off and says it will now fit any E series block as a non VCT. While I dont doubt that is all correct, I am curious if there are any known reliability issues with such a "thing". I have not heard of it until now. Would I need any other additional parts to make this run? This is a new one to me. Cheers |

The VCT can be disabled and the Cam "Locked" (use normal cam) fitted to an E series.
Why would you bother with the VCT head if you arn't going to use it. Get an E series Head or a standard AU head. |

Because the head is "heavily worked" and $1500, as opposed to paying $200-400 for a non VCT head plus $2500+ for porting, valves, valve seating, springs and so on. If I can make it work as a locked head (the way it sits) its a good deal. |

All you said was that it was a VCT head.
Does it include cam? What "Work" is done to the head? Do you have any pics of the head? |

AFAIK the VCT head had very good ports to begin with, so that would be a good reason to use it as a base for work.
Interesting and simple concept on disabling the VCT. Now it can be used with a standard cam and cam gear. |

$1500 - Doesn't appear to have the cam or vernier gear. Portwork does not appear that "Heavy worked" to me.
Ask if it comes with the cam? Ask if the rocker cover is included? Has the head been fitted? Does it come with rocker gear and HLA's? If you need a cam add $200, Vernier add say $150, If it has been fitted it will need facing $100, Rockers $50 - total $500, add that to the $1500 and you are up to $2000 without frieght. CMS Stage 3 is quoted at $1750 plus $150 core deposit ($1900) plus frieght. Comes assembled and ready to fit. Do the numbers. |
