Hey there,
My housemate has a BA XR6 that he's had for a few months now. We were sussing the throttle body setup to see what could be done to change the accelerator to a throttle cable rather than the crappy electronic pedal that they come with. So I figure, replace the BA throttle body with EL/EF/AU throttle body, undo wiring, retro-fit a throttle cable to the accelerator pedal and maybe run a TPS signal to the appropriate pin on the BA ECU? I'm not sure how the TPS system works on the BAs so I may be way off but I figure I like the idea in theory. That's as far/as well as I can figure it. Anyone done this successfully before or care to share their own 2 cents on doing it? Cheers

I know they feel 'odd', but one thing I would want to find out before doing that is, does the throttle body snap open on full throttle off idle? I would think not, would it not only say open 1/2 at low rpm and then open up latter on.
just a thought... |

Not if the throttle body's greased up nice and the cable's not fried. Any more ideas?

why? is it really that bad?
to do it properly you would need to get an AU upper manifold and pedal & cable assembly and then work out the headache of working out the wireing.

when ba first come out at work we all thought that the throttle felt a bit "dead" but mate id recommend sticken with it cause its not that bad once you get use to it and if you did try to change it your cruise and trac control wont be workn anymore. the only drama that we have had is on a few early ones that have had some throttle position sensors failing. but the sensor is easy enough to replace.id stick with the std unit.

I've heard you can use the throttle body from the au stroker motors.

Ford spent millions developing the Electronic Throttle Control and you want to go back to cable, WTF.

why not put a cable clutch in to replace the hydraulic unit while you're at it...

the electronic throttle would be good, if it wasn't desgined to nanna down the car. I wish my BA had cable driven throttle, so much more responsive. The electronic throttle limits and does whatever the f**k it wants, hopefully the FG's have something decent now.

the throttle does snap open quickly when you stab the accelerator. you can also change the behaviour of it using a flash tuner, there are heaps of parameters that can be modified, as well as the relationship of pedal position to throttle angle

Seriously do people google "f**k up modifications for Fords owned by Jews" and get linked straight to this site nowadays? AU,factory fitted tickford kit/IRS, t5,Sports ryder/KYB: gone. |
