As far as I know, and if it is anything like my BA when I was considering going the turbo conversion, virtually the entire driveline is different, not just a turbo bolted to the engine.

o ok so you can't just bolt on the turbo and all the components that go with it , whats
involded in changing the driveline ? would this cost thousands of $$$ ? |

Would cost you a lot of money and don't forget, bang goes your warranty. The FG Turbo engine is NOT the same as the NA, the bottom end is different. |

people have turbo charged there n/a b series, you will still need all the turbo bits, a sump from a turbo or drill and tap the na sump, pipework, map sensor, and either get the n/a ecu flashed or use a turbo ecu, but itmay need flashing anyway due to bcm security ect...
there is not that much diffence in the drive line.. at the end of the day, your better off just buying a xr6t to start with... |

When I have looked up spare parts at work, or read about them, the story I read is the trans is similar (beefed up slightly for turbo or V8), but the tailshaft and diff is the same for everything N/A 6 cyl and then bigger and stronger (and rated for higher speeds) for the turbos and V8s.
Thats pretty much the complete driveline by my books. Sorry, its in the owners manual for my BA ute, specifies different fluids for the N/A to turbos for gearboxes and diffs, gearbox may be just a better oil to handle the stress, but the diff also has greater capacity. |
