hey im sure this has been covered but i couldnt find anything on it.
Day off today!!! but im stuck at home because "The Mont" wont start she just cranks without even a hint of firing, shes also leaking coolant out of the head gasket. mustve blown in the driveway lastnight, oil pressure was fine last night and there is no coolant in the oil. now i realise that the head gasket will have to be redone. but why would a coolant leak out of the head stop it from starting? coolant in the bore maybe? and is this bad? any ideas? thanks!

take ya plugs out and then crank here maybe oil or water is siting in the piston chamber cranking it with out the plugs will make no pressure thus pushing it out although you will have a mess

is it still running the original headgasket? and is it on the exhaust side?

check your TFI module by either taking a plug out and earthing it by using a good lead and clips to a good earth to see if it is firing,
DON'T HANG ONTO THE PLUG WHILE DOING THIS or by using an induction timing light to see if the plug is firing, without taking the plug out |

hmm, good ideas! will try them tomoz.
fuel pressure is fine im pretty sure its the original head gasket and its on the exhaust side, i was thinkin it might have rusted a section out allowin the coolant from the water jacket out but not oil. does that make sense? lol

DEfinitely makes sense, my car ran like that for 6 months b4 I replaced the gasket. You could smell the coolant as it got hot and dripped past the manifold

tried crankin it without spark plugs in the cylinders that i think are affected but all that did was make a strange noise, no water came out or anything like that. spose ill be towin it to the mechanics
i think its time to upgrade to the B series :)

what u could do is put your thumb over the spark plug holes and see if there is any compression as u crank it. Beware tho, the compression is high, and u get a bit of a shock as it pushes your thumb away.
BTW, u shouldn't crank the engine w/o earthing the sparking plugs, as it stuffs the ECU |

lol wooops
yeah ive given up already and im getting a mechanic to come look at it. luckily its a friend of a friend that lives close by because it wouldnt be cheap to get lube mobile out here in st andrews i read the sticky on head gaskets and from what i can gather AU gasket and head bolts are the go. but i also need to use AU torque settings and i dont need it to be retensioned? does that sound about right
