yep, 38-40psi.... i always run 40psi, it helps with tyre wear and handling and economy...

Definitely a noticeable difference in the firmness and how much more its soaking up the rough country roads now. thanks again.

I run 30-32Psi in my 18" wheels on the XR8. The little plark on the door states 30Psi unloaded and 38 loaded. I think they might be 245s tho.

ive allwys ran 40psi in all my cars only because the roads around here are quiet rough and tend to have fairly large pot holes, plus it's also a bonus to have 40psi in the mightyboy tires at the lights with the little squeal from the tyres on take off

i put new 235/40-r18 on the front of the fairmont today and was told to run between 40 to 45 psi has 42 at the moment and everything seems fine.....

I run 36-38psi hot in my 235/45 R17's. It is a delicate balance on tyre wear vs economy vs handling.....

Fords are so heavy the only way to stop them rolling off the edges you have to run 36 in any tyre, I run 40 around town and 38 If I'm heading Up the hills 235/40/18.
Have found that running the reccomemded pressure on the plaque isn't enough in most older cars, tyres may have changed their structure. Get heaps of oldies in the shop running 26 in their falcons and commos cos it's what they were recommended 20 odd years ago. |

it aso depends on what size rim and tyre being used.. a 205 65 15 can get away with 32-36psi .. with 17" 0r larger with 40 or 30 series tyres you need the extra pressure to save your rims from road dips and pothole destruction...

Ok guys i have done this research via internet & talking to tyre manufactures.
The results i have found are as follows. The correct tyre pressures are there is NO correct tyre pressures. It's totaly up to you. Some people like tyres hard for handling & YES economy (tyre rolls easier) or softer for smoother ride over bumpy roads. Always pump tyres when cool or cold. Never when worm or hot. The best results i found & got told to do is off you max tyre pressure less 4-6psi. For example if max tyre pressure is 44psi pump tyes to 38-40psi cool or cold. My tyre max is 44psi. I pump my tyres to 39psi. I find it gives me even tread wear & good handling but a little rough ride but i don't care. There are tyres out there that max pressures are 55 & even 60 psi. So you don't pump tyres 40 psi that is too low. It will damage the tyre. SO the end result is for me & hope it helps you guys is pump your tyres 4-6 psi less the maximum tyres pressure cool or cold.

low profile tyres = minimum 40 psi, the harder you go the longer the tyres will last I believe, that goes for all size tyres, we get people in at work with under 30 psi in their tyres and wonder why they are stuffed, should say maximum pressure on the tyre as well

the Central Qld road are too rough ill stick with my 30-32psi.
In my 2008 Nissn patrol wagon witch weighs in at 2.9 tonnes I run 32-34 Psi 275/65/17 Yokohama ats. So far have 80000kms on the tyres and will get another 20000 at least. I tend to stick with lower pressures so if you run over somthing the tyre will flex aroud the object and cause less damage.

im in gadstone qld and the roads here are shocking i run 40 in the falcon 245/45/17 and 50 in the datsun 185/75 14 only because it goes for a bit of offroad jumping.
