i was looking at 3.3/4.1 cortina prices on ebay earlier and thought that they would be a perfect project car to sit in the shed and work on over a long period of time.i was wondering if anyone could answer these questions i have.

1.if i was to buy one, would the the 4.0l sohc fit up to the original 4 speed manual or 3 spd auto?

2.would the sohc motor fit in vertially trouble free?

3.would the 4 speed auto or 5 speed manual from an ea-el fit up relativly easy?

4.would it be a legal conversion in nsw and pass easily with the standard ecu(chipped to turn off all the smart lock ect).

1 - i believe you can use the 3spd bellhousing from an EA - i dont think the 4 speed will bolt up
2 - plenty of room in a corty engine bay, trouble free is very subjective but its not impossible both are I6 and engines are related so it wouldnt be the hardest conv ever.
3 - 5 speed would fit the best, but the tunnel on them is relatively big so a 4sp auto might fit

someone else will know more, i know both vehicles but ive never done this particular conversion.

I just done some research and I'd be best keeping the 250 x flow for mods. Also the 4.0 needs some work to fit.

I also realised why so many run v8s, conversion bits are cheap.
