cheers in advance :)

cfi is a good starting point, they don't like full throttle as there is only 2 injectors not 6.

convert to mpfi or just drive it normally.

could be a lot of things.

injectors could be blocked, fuel pump, fuel filter, distributor, spark plugs, leads, motor could be on the way out, head gasket.

start with the easiest first then go on from there.

Sorry to hijack a thread but rather start another Ill ask my question here as its CPI related

I looked at a car today for a friend its a EB1 CPI auto the cars is great apart from it has a miss on CYL 5, they had replaced the dizzy/coil/leads/cap/rotor & ECU and still has a miss could it be possible that they installed a MPFI dizzin into it and due to being a CPI it has a miss?

its possible the dizzys are different or cylinder 5 has worn rings or dodgy valve maybe.

more then likely a burnt valve or a head gasket issue.

Bargain the price down, buy it, go to the wreckers get an EL head, intake, dizzy and ECU and go to town on it.

the dizzy could be the issue, i know the cfi has a different chopper wheel? to the mpfi.

They only want $100 for it as it is?

A/C is freezing cold no real leaks apatr from the rocker cover gasket at the front but theres no spark on No 5 lead. Swapped leads same thing Ill do a Comp Test tommorow, but pretty sure its not the head as its just had a new head installed less than 12 months ago.

Just dont have a CPI dizzy here to check with a MPFI one to see the difference. (im not going to pull my ED MPFI one out just to check if its the same or different in the EB lol F*#k That....

Anyone got a few pics to show the differences? also is the TFI differerent from CPI to MPFI?

R u sure it's a series II EA does it have a 4spd or 3spd auto. If it has 12D on the TBAR I would be checking the kick down cable on the throttle body for a 3spd auto.

Check also the throttle cable hasn't stretched.......

The only difference in the dizzys is the chopper wheel.

One tooth is shorter on the MPEFI than the CFI to indicate cylinder 1.

But a MPEFI dizzy will work ok in CFI as it fires the injectors every revolution on the rising edge of the tooth regardless.

And a CFI dizzy will work in a MPEFI, but the ECU fires all 6 injectors at once, so it just runs a little rich. Works, but isn't the best solution.
