Ive started to remove the head bolts i have got all the bolts on the drivers side except 1 and none on the passenger side, the few on the drivers side were really easy as the other ones are not.
What do i do when the bolts begin to round off besides the obvious "stop"? I was going in a circular direction but when i got to the top passenger side its hard as to undo, as i havent got a breaker bar ive just put all my extension bars together, with the drivers side i used a impact wrench which made the bolts come out so easy. Is there any other ways to get the rest out or is all patience? im trying to see if i can borrow some impact socket pieces as i have none of those either because i think this is why the bolts want to round off. also can i leave the intake attached or remove it? Ive got alot of time so not fussed about time consumption |

Oh my god.
Are you being serious? Search, right now, how to remove a e series falcon head. Note the correct sequence for removing the head bolts and hope you havnt warped the head. |

Im sorry but i guess i just misinterpreted what the car manual said, this is my first time taking a head off myself.
And thank you Pakrat ive searched how to do it properly, if i put all the bolts back in tightly can i still remove the bolts in the right order? do i need to remove the rockers and cam? |

Alright as of today with the help of my mate and my cousins fiancee i have got all the head bolts except for one it has now rounded off after a few attempts doing different ideas. i got a impact 14mm socket and that worked well, then i got a socket that grips bolts that have been rounded off but didn't seem to grip with one stubborn bolt, then was told to put a 13mm socket on and knock it on with a hammer so its tight and try to undo it with the breaker bar, this didn't work either so Ive packed up for the day and will see what i can do tomorrow or another day.
anyone have any ideas to get the stubborn bolt out or am i screwed? |

Get a socket onto it that can grip it if you can use half inch, using breaker bar hold weight on it and have. Mate hit it with a hammer, use safety glasses guys.

Yesterday I was using a socket that grips rounded bolt heads but then it just started to strip the head bolt as it was just slipping right off.
Ill have another crack at it tomorrow |

Put the all bolts back in and tension them up before working on the stuborn ones.
Use a hex socket not a 12 sided one and give the head of the bolt a downward good tap with a hammer to break any thread binding. Work in the oposite order to the assembly tensioning sequence. You can leave the intake intact and be carefull not to break a chain guide on removal of the head.

I would like to thank everyone with their words of wisdom.
We got the head off today the bolt was still being stubborn after trying a few more ideas, in the end we tightened the bolts around it and used a grinder to grind the head off the bolt and thats how we got the head off. So again thanx to those words of wisdom. On to the fun stuff. Cheers |

Cheers i have an engine in my garage, 1 bolt snapped at the thread when i tryed to loosen it,4 came out and the rest wont budge, have stuffed the bolt trying to get them off, i have a feeling someone had taken the head off and used the same bolts again when your supposed to throw them, i too have to grind the heads off or get my mate to weld a nut to it, i think ill just throw the whole lot away and buy a head lol
