Hey guys. About a month ago my sister "borrowed" my car and unfortunatly crashed it. She drove it into the back of an excel but the damage doesnt look to serious. At the time my insurance wasnt done (why i wasnt driving it) so im looking at some opinions. From what i can see i will need to replace the Bonnet, Drivers headlight, and the iffy thing is the radiator support top bar thingo. Does it just Bolt off or will i need to get some welding done. From what i can see its just 2 little spot welds (Do they need to be their ?). How much am i looking at to get this repaired ? The car is a EA Wagon if that helps. Ill try and get some pics for yas asap.

EA's are so cheap now that it'd almost be worth just grabbing another one - unless yours is in top nick?
perhaps an upgrade to an EBII & above might be worth it

yeah i agree with big bob on this one, prob would be better to upgrade, sell off the EA and upgrade to something a bit youger, prob wouldnt be worth the money to fix it....
pick up a nice EB, ED, EF, or EL

Well the thing is that i am kinda limited on $$ at the moment. How much would it be to fix it ? The car was rescently serviced and had a replacement engine, gearbox and all that put in. Oh yeah, how much would a nice eb sedan set me back ?

sometimes a crash is a good excuse to upgrade... sorry to hear it is a bit dented. But then you might like the challenge of repairing it yourself - if you are able to...

2g's is a little out of my budget at the moment. I was gonna repair it myself but i would have to get some welding done. Has anyone done this type of repair before ? Hopefuly she will be up and running in no time!

radiator support panel isnt that hard too fix yourself (did one on an EF) depends on your skill level. you have to drill out all the spotwelds (some are hidden so you have to cut the top half of the panel off first) then plugweld the replacement in (about $100 from a wrecker).
all up youd be looking at $300 if you fix it all yourself (and can find a bonne in your colour)

you have to make sure you put the rad support back in the exact location otherwise your headlight will probobly never line up properly( had this prob with a vk)
Also if its just pushed in you can get any good panal beater to use a ram to push it back out for $50 then just a quick bash with a hammer and some paint to make it look right. Headlight and such you can pick up for next to nick these days. Most people will have some bits laying around there back yards that they would prob sell cheap. Only thing to check for is if any of the steering/suspension components have been stuffed. Thats where the money will start adding up

have you tried to take the head light / indicator out?
becauase i have benen known to do dodgy stuff id just chuck a new light in and see how it goes. i dinged mine about 3 and a half years ago, not so bad though and just did that. got a bonnet last year. and have a guard now just getting it ready for paint, hopefully the next couple of weeks i will get around to painting it and fitting it

you can get new glass for the headlight for about $40 from ford dealer I have had to do this a couple of times when I had my ED. Give the bonnet a shove and get back on the road!

ah thats nothing, you should be able to straighten the rad support with a hammer, then just file back any ruff edges and even smooth some bog over it the a ruff coat of paint and bobs your uncle. No one will pick it up.
Not nearly worth the hassal of getting a ram or buying a new one for such minor damage. May take you a couple of go's to get your headlight adjusted though now.
