as for the ticking if you've used EA rocker gear chances are the HLAs are stuffed and you need new ones[/quote]

Low and behold some constructive criticism worth reading....

Could you point me in the direction of the literature regarding EA rocker gear?

Price of HLA's????
Are there aftermarket HLA's?

Now we see the veteran of this website speak out with valuable information.......

AFAIK, HLA's, or hydraulic lash adjusters, are just a little vessel that fills with oil and keeps pressure on the can lobes. When things wear, they expand, and so you dont need to adjust the rockers. The little rubber seals in them are what need replacing, and theyre not that hard to do either.

Other way round. ED's have the smaller 10mm lifters. Looks wise they are similar to the EA/EB lifters, but are of smaller size. Same as EF/EL/AU

Sounds good, I'll attack it today and return with hopefully good news....

Thanks.

I think the topic of this thread needs to be changed to "I'm right, your wrong!"

Suffering an accute disorder, you may require a number of sessions with a psychiatrist. :!:

Then you might actually step back and look at yourself in the mirror and be some what dissapointed with what you see.

Bottom line is your a penis Mr Tickford_6 :?:

hahaha

and he was the only one to offer you help apart from stockstandard

now your calling him a penis when even he finally got sick of you lol

just a question. Are you now running that same cam that didnt work the first time with a EA rocker gear and its all good apart from lifter noise? If so, crow gave you the correct cam and your original rocker gear was incorrect for that engine, meaning i'd wonder what cam was in there in the first place

Conversed with Jim Mock Motors, apparently that year was a changeover to the new engines and some cars came out of the factory with the "Hybrid" engines.

One bit from here and one bit from there.

The Crow cam is still in with the EA rocker set, running pretty good to me.
That is after an HLA seal/retainer kit run through it.
Original rocker gear looks as though from an EF I think.
Big difference in the rocker build + roller width's, the EA gear seems to be more robust.

Crows website quotes the following -
"Falcon, Fairlane, 3.9-4.0 1989-Jan 98"

My XH is a 1997, so one would think the cam suits, right?

Anyhow all is up and running again, and Mr d**k didnt assist in any way except another reality check as to how many di*ks there are out there in our society....

Mate, that's a bit harsh hey?

Mate, I've been witness to Ticford_6 being a d**k (we all are :D ) believe me, but in this instance, I think he was seriously being helpful and you're being a tad harsh...

well the rocker ratio between EF and EA is all the same, so you shouldnt have had a drama in regards to the rockers, unless indeed your top end is a AU/hybrid item, in which case thats Ford's fault as all hybrid motors were meant to bew built from 98 on

So...not really crow's fault at all

Regardless as to what JMM say, your car was built to early to have hybrid parts in it. Crow sent you the right cam for what your engine was supposed to be.

Tickford_6 does have a valid point - The guy with the spanner is the one in the best position to judge the suitability of parts and should always make sure whats going into the engine is the correct part. At least your lucky that the rocker arm broke. If it didnt, and you had started the engine, you would probably be looking for a new one.

it's ok man. I'm the first one to admit that I AM A d***head. and that i find with most people i know they either like me or they dont. and to be honest it really doesn't bother me much at all if some one thinks poorly of me.

i said what i said because sometimes, it has to said.

stockstandard had this to say:
Tickford_6 does have a valid point - The guy with the spanner is the one in the best position to judge the suitability of parts and should always make sure whats going into the engine is the correct part.

both he and i would agree that in the past we have had heated words and dont always agree. but i dont hold that against him at all, and i hope he give the same in return.

and I'll stand by what i said and i'm sure there are more people then just stockstandard who agree with, it's just, unlike me, they are unwilling to upset people....
