Why don't you ring up each place and talk to them.. tell them what you're after.. they'll tell you what they can do for you :)

Personally I recommend RPD.. good product.. great service.

I got a stage2 crow cam, bought it from autopro and they installed it aswell (back when I didnt know what I was doin) and it cost me $450 installed, didnt go too bad actually either, very chuncky, deep idle sound

but id tend to go with an rpd one more, not much more expensive and there good quality

as you can see, I answered the question on what price, why should people have a go at me for recommending something different, not sure how that is trying to sell "flavour of the month"

People should be allowed to offer opinions, thats what the site is for

Its not turning into an 'RPD vs other thread', its an 'if your going to say something make it meaningful’ thread.

I recommended them because I owned a crow cam and been in cars with rpd cams, and MY OPINION is that there better... so get over the s**t

This is what I mean, saying that is already a 100X more useful than saying that they are 'better'. You could even go the extra step and say what RPD cam you are comparing your crow to, and why it is better (idle quality, low end torque or high end power, etc).

if people dont want opinions, dont bloody ask for them

hmmm, did he ask for an opinion?

Anyway thats my rant for the day so I wont carry on any more

What knid of performance improvements can you expect with these different cams?
Has anyone swapped an EF stock cam with an XR6, was it better?

people have done it but the gain was not noticeable. for the XR cam to work it needs all the other goodies the XR had over the other falcs

I put an EF tickford head on my otherwise stock EL futura and there was a noticable gain of power/torque (same thing anyway...) from around 2200rpm to redline. Nothing particularly exciting, it was probably about as big as the gain i got from fitting extractors. the headers & ticky head saw 129rwkw on the CMS dyno.

WADE FOR THE WIN (jokes), however after talking to them on the phone for a bout an hour thay made me a custom cam to suit speedway car, hooked me up with lifters springs and retainers to suit the cam and i couldnt be happier, the cam exactly what i wanted so if you want a good cam get on the phone and ring a few of the places up and tell them what you want and see which one helps you best, oh and fiftyone sorry to get off topic but do the ring around mate. the manger at supercheap here is kangaroo flat can get alot of preformance gear not on the shelf if you ask him.

Thats all great help. From what everyone says its more than just the camshaft. I don't want to spend lots of $$$ if I end up changing the motor down the track.
I would rather stick to the camshaft. I got incontact with a workshop and I was told that Crow Cams don't work, funnily enough they said they sold a better one.
Crow Cams weren't able to show me any clear specs about the performance other than a dyno from 1998. It was from Herrods, a EA? Fairmont with a 6 Pack? 101kw improved to 121kw. There was no other reference at all or information. Herrods have not been able to shed any light so far.
I already have a kit on the car.
Does anyone know where I can see some real evidence of the possible improvement gained, like dyno information? I want to know where my money is going. If I am asking too much someone better tell me!!!

uglybob used to run a crow cam... PM him.

I dunno if you're gonna get any dyno sheets for any cams, but go from what other's have experienced. There's definite gains to be had from upgrading the cam.
Also depends in what rev range you want to have more power in.

f**k spot on Southy and Stockstandard!

^ Taken from the Chopper skit "harden the f**k up!".

Best thing to do is ask plenty of questions from both suppliers and the people who have the cams you're looking for. Ask for dyno sheets. Ask for quarter mile times and make up your own mind. If you can, drive cars with the cams you're looking for. Just try and look past the hype and seek out the facts.

AdamN is right it all depends on where your looking to gain the power. I will help out with some info very shortly. I sent RPD 4 timeslips from the drags and what Jaysen said was my trap speed is good but I am lacking in the 0-60 foot so he has hooked me up with an R6 which should improve that time. So shortly I will get a dyno then I will set up the cam and get it dynoed again+ another run at the quarter which will all be posted so you can get a better idea on the gains that can be had by fitting an aftermarket cam, in the mean time just ask heaps of questions, its bound to get you somewhere.
