what is this icon it always pops up when i start the car and doesnt go away till its heated up abit

it is low coolant level - the coolant expands as it heats up. just top your overflow up, and it should go out.

the sensor breaks and fills up with water droping down and reading low. just replace it costs about $15 od so from memory.

Nah just kidding with ya mate you either have a dodgey sender or not much water / coolant in your overflow/ radiator bottle... just have a look at your coolant level if it is at min fill it up and just whatch it for a bit if no water leaks start the car see if that icon has gone ifso have aloook agin once some pressure is in your cooling system and check for any leakage........... then check ya water about once a week...

From Ford they're like 60 bux, supercheap bout 10 bux. Mines done the same thing, after the radiator joint fitted new pipes and cleaned the overflow bottle they stuffed the sensor. Not going back to them though, charged me 120 more than they quoted.
