does it increase the compression as much as shaving the head?
already got the head shaved 40thou want to get some more compression is it even worth it? so far im at 154rwkw im not to fussed on the rwkw figure more so need some feelable power

Im not familiar with that term? Im assuming that you mean shaving the block to get more compression.
Im pretty sure that you might be going too far if you have already shaved 1mm off the head. You can use a AU head gasket to give you a little more. |

yer i ment shaving the engine block ( other people on here called it decking the head)
iv already got the au gasket the head work only helped with the 60km and upwards power is there a stroker kit for the 4l? other than that iv done everything there is to make it powerful

Mate ur already taken a fair bit and if u take more u will end up with timing chain problems and what not.
40thou is 1mm so u better be checking how much timing chain as u dont want that 2 be slack and id personally only go 20thou off the head and 20thou off the block so i wont run into any drama's.

lol here we go again.
paulo, in your thread about raising compression people have answered all these questions. decking the block and shaving the head aren't the best ways of gaining compression. you need to pull the engine apart to deck the block, so you may as well install high comp pistons. decking the block is more to get the face of the block flat again or change the quench characteristics when fitting pistons/rods/crank of a different height or stroke.

atleast now i know decking the head is mainly to get it flat again is raising the compression the only thing i can do from here to get more power or hav i missed something? cjh- extractors,cat,catback exhuast,cam and chip misk_one- yer your right i went through some of my old posts and u and few other ppl already answered it i just forgot. any brands of racing pistons i should look at getting?

get some flat tops or lumpy top pistons, and butterfly cut them, O-Ring your head, and do away with the gaskets,
ACL suppliers may have a few flat tops left, but no longer in production. There is more you can do yet, you have hardly scratched the surface on things to do. the stuff you listed are the CHEAPER mods.

the thing is the further you want to go in terms of power the less street friendly it will become.
it seems 160-170rwkw is the most you can get without going full solid cam, methanol style s**t. and to get to that power level its all in the tune and the cam. the bottom end can be rebuilt to ensure you have a good seal with new rings and good high comp pistsons, but its not really going to make more power after a rebuild unless your current bottom end is f**k.

so pretty theres nothin i can do further but continue to tune it? what could dc_todd possibly be talking about then if i havent even scrachted the surface ( or mabye its just his opinion)

I believe hypatec are the only mob around providing off the shelf highest comp piston unless u get it custom made or find something that will fit the rod.

port the head,bigger valves,the right pistons,rings,rods,crank and cam,balanced,oil pump and better timing gears,chain tensioners,headers and a new ecu to run it.have you worked out the compression ratio you want,will the drive train take it AND WILL IT STOP?we are talking straight driving,will it corner well or be a see saw in corners.
