im currently getting my efs motor rebuilt and will be putting in a wade 1673 cam and i a have a few questions to ask 1. would it be worth buying a vermier gear? the block may be decked only to be level and same with the head andif so how much should i advanvce it? looking for quarter times and will have 3.7 gears soon 2. is there much benefit in a tickford head over a standard 94ab head

It's hard to say whether or not you should advance/retard the cam "x" degress, best bet would be to put it on a dyno and muck around with the adjustments and see which gives the best results. Regarding the head, the tickford head has a few benefits over a std 94ab as you may already know i.e 41mm ex. valves as standard, uprated valve springs. I have also noticed that the tickford head is shaped differently in some areas of the ports (most noticeably the short side turn) and doesn't have the built up boss around the valve guides inside the port so i would say it 'should' flow a little better than a stock 94AB. If you don't plan on doing any porting and can get a tickford head for a good price than i would snap one up, get it cleaned up and reco'd and have it fitted. If you plan on getting a bit of port work done, just stick with the 94AB head you have and get that worked on |

If the car is an auto, it is worth advancing the cam timing by 2* to 4*.....gives more torque to get out of the hole ( with a std stall convertor).
