A cam is case hardened.
I have personally seen the case hardening give away on a reground cam for a clevo.
Whether it was just a bad one , wasnt installed and run in correctly , or if they all let go I cannot say.
When ever I am getting a cam I just get a new one. But playing with V8's I have that luxury.

That clevo cam would have been a flat tappet cam.

The 4L OHC engine has a roller cam, the issue simply isn't there.

I personally just don't use flat tappet cams in any engine, unless there is no choice.
My answer to people that want me to is simple "find some one els to build it"

What about some classes of drag racing that mandate flat tappet cams? Or is that a no go for you?

No Mitch, flat tappets have to be bed in and if you don't do it properly then Bang!!!. Some guys brake them in on a dyno but if there is no access to one then its up to the owner to work out how to get it done. This is where it gets tricky cause most of them have a have a bigger budget for a legal team than their car, yet they can't follow a few basic instructions.

Roller ftw every time.

As to the OP's question. Regrind is your only option unless all 30,000 tight a*** on this forum want to pitch in 1-2000 each and we can have a world class foundry with which to make our own engine parts.

MEH - i was saying soft cause he wont touch it when people ask - if someone's asking for it i'm sure they know how they work!

I've been around long enough to know that's just not the case. More often then not they want a flat tappet cam becuase they can't afford to go roller, Simple as that.
I don't want or need the hassle it can create.

Just ask Nicco what i told him we he first spoke to me about building an engine.
I literally told him "do it my way or piss off"
Guess what, He came back, agreed to do it my way, and we are both happy with how things are going.

What's a roller conversion worth on an original flat tappet cammed block these days? 2-3k?

It's not interesting, it's that company trying to scare people into buying their product.

Either way, try and find a billet cam for a falcon 6.

I stopped reading when I got to the 1970's tech speak of 1/4 and 1/2 race cams.
