Hi all,
Dual fuel EL XR6 Motor.... I searched fordmods for yonks and got lots of sometimes conflicting advice.. but I ended up getting some Bosch super plus WR9LCX+ plugs which I then gapped to 0.8mm. As I understand it, the WR9LCX plugs are right for the XR motor.. these plugs seem hotter than the Denso's I had in it.. (all of which had a light grey/tan colour on them when I pulled them out. What are thoughts folks? I had a choice between these and some similiar NGK's.. wasn't sure if I made the right choice.. rgds Frank |

The Genuine Ford ones are J16 ARU11 (ND) for LPG and XR. Bosch are good plugs and I am sure they will be ok.
Nippon Denso shows the cross reference of the plugs you picked as being hotter than the ones listed by Ford for your vehicle. Too hot a plug iss almost as bad as not hot enough, I guess only use will tell. |

With lpg you have to use a colder plug.
I use & recommend ngk's.

LPG runs dry so that means more heat in the cylinder.
LPG also has a higher combustion rate = more cylinder pressure. The bigger the gap the more chance of the spark blowing away. I'm not a lpg speicalist but i am a sparkie.

Good to know.. thanks.
I guess I should probably have done an 8 range since I'm on gas 90% of the time, but I'm hoping there isn't enough diff there to make a significant issue and I am running 0.8mm... Funny, I researched on here for over an hour to find the right plug, and in the end I bought the wrong one anyway.... We need a sticky for this.. one that details "fuel only/dual fuel/gas only" for both normal 6's and XR's. Gonna get more interesting again when I finish the supercharger and have a dual fuel supercharged system... gonna have to get a professional to look into it then. |

LPG burns slower, thats why it need more advance.
You wont hurt anything with hot plug. i've been using what would be a denso 14 or an NGK 5 in an lpg AU not problems at all. |

Good to know MR Tickford. Ta...
I might wind my timing forward a spot actually.. I only really run gas.. the fuel in the tank is premium with injector cleaner in it.. so probably could wind it forward some. |
