G'day people;

Just wondering how much a reconditioned diff centre goes for these days?

It's for an automatic 4.0L EB2 Falcon.

Symptom: Diff whine.

Also, are these centres interchangable with other models? If so, which ones?

Finally, what are the specifications... I.e. ratio, splines, etc.

Regards.

Hey,

the centres are interchangeable between ea-el SS diff's, but lsd have a different housing.

Ratio on a standard EB 4.0 would be 3.08:1 and 25 spline axles....as far as i know.

Don't think the centres just unbolt and come out like hiluxes etc, thing the housing needs to be stretched or something.

Incorrect totally.

- The LSD centres can be fitted to any of the diff housings in EB2 to EL
- EB2 have 28 spline
- Stretch the housing?? WHAT?? The axles need to be pulled out slightly, then unbolt the backplate and remove centre like any other rear carrier diff.

BASSFREAK - You can get replacement lsd centres with new bearings on ebay for around 3-400 depending on which add you find. Diff whine is not always a problem in the centre area, it is often in the rear wheel bearings too.
It depends on what model EB (Gli, Fairmont, XR etc) as to what ration you have. There will be a tag on the back of your diff centre, and a sticker on the back of the right axle tube quoting your diff ratio.

The centres come out fine, you do NOT need a chain and a jack to stretch the diff backwards to separate.
