Also, another engine question.
the 3.9 block and the 4.0 blocks Ranging from EA - EL ... any different in between them? .. The pistons in the 3.9 look about the same size as the 4.0 blocks. Do the 4.0 blocks have a bigger stroke or anything? ... or is the difference so small you can't even notice a difference .... ? Antony. |

from memory theyre actually the same volume, but they renamed it a larger engine to show that it was actually different.but yeah, im not entirely sure. The head volumes might be different, but that would mean a lower compression

Bore is slightly differant, EA 91.86mm, EL 92.25mm. Stroke is the same at 99.31mm
Capacity differance was only about 35cc. Personnally I think ford increased it, so they could market it as a 4.0L against Holden's 3.8L

the au blocks have the integrated sump for the bottom end so u get basically 6 bolt mains and a f**k strong a** bottom end great for turbos............

Antony. the 4.0ltr eb-ed used the same block as the ea's but they have been bored out. On my ed it's got 3.9 stamped onto it
