Hi All,
Is there any difference between a standard EF Falcon exhaust and EF XR6 exhaust??? I need to get rear mufflers for both cars and it seems the XR6 is quater inch bigger diameter pipe??? They both have a 3 muffler assembly but not sure if the pipe itself is bigger???

IIRC standard falcon is 2 1/4" press bent whereas XR6 is 2.5" press bent

Ditto...not worth getting one unless it is really cheap and in good nic (doubtful considering age). Especially considering off the shelf catbacks are so cheap.

in the end it matters not as a simple cheap 2.5" redback will be better and ALOT cheaper, if your worried about noise get a few mufflers thrown in.

Another difference was the std OE muffler was a triple pass turn out and the XR6 was a straight through turn out. There is no difference in the CATs and an XR6 CAT back exhaust will bolt straight on to the stock CAT.
The EBII XR6 twin muffler set up was very expensive to replace.

Perry exhaust sell a 2.5in Mandrel bent sports exhaust that replicates the factory xr6 system. Although it's around $370 on EBAY free postage. http://74.125.155.132/search?q=cache:_m8HSmM7BrEJ:www.hmheaders.com.au/index.php%3Fq%3D23.html+perry+exhaust+HM102TP&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=au You could buy a 2.5in Redback system with two mufflers for about $250 and there not much louder than stock.

i assume these aftermarket cat back systems when comparing to a standard XR6 system are pretty much mandrel bent and have a less restrictive mufflerw than the factory XR6???
If thats the case and i can find a manderal bent system without mufflers and buy magnaflow mufflers as they flow the best and sound very nice and keep the car quite. I'll only do that if im going to keep the car and want more power and poke

genie tornado was rated the best comprimise between sound quality and power. It has since been superceeded by the Lukey Ultraflow
So just throw a couple of them in, with a decent resonator? http://autospeed.com/cms/title_Giant-Mu ... ticle.html |

That article is 10yrs old lol
Lukey Ultraflow are also good and have used that on the rear of my previous EF XR8 and made it alot quiter but it did loose about 8rwhp but thats also on a different dyno so who knows for sure. what i do know for sure is that magnaflow are the best hands down as i know of a car using them and from having the car dyno both with just extractors and having fitted 2 large magnaflow mufflers it only lost 5rwhp

If you look at the numbers the magnaflow is a good compromise between both power and noise so i was on the money
