hi all i almost had a disastrous experience because of the power steering hose earlier (the one with the metal fitting that goes onto the back of the pump).
anyway i had to change my timing cover gasket and did the serpentine conversion while i was at it. all went well drove the car for about an hour no problems. I went to go for another drive and the engine caught on fire about 10 min into my drive. i opened the bonnet and was very lucky to be able to blow the flames out. After some investigations i found out that the above mentioned hose was spraying fluid right onto the extractors, which obviously caused the fire. it wasnt spraying where it screws on. but rather between the tube and the first nut that screws into the second nut (hope this makes sense) my question is SHOULD I or CAN I replace this with an EF/EL hose instead of the EB one that i used. was it because i used the EB one that i had the leak or was i just unlucky? your help is much appreciated as i need to fix this asap and get the car off the road. Thanks

I use the EB hose, but you need to remove the big nut on the back of the pump that is designed to accept the EL hose. Then screw the EB hose straight in.

Cheers BenJ Hey ben the eb hose screwed into the retainer bolt on the el pump and fit right. Why would I remove it? Thanks for your help mate

If it isn't leaking then just leave it as it is.
I had a massive leak until I removed that big nut. Cheers BenJ
