It's probably been mentioned many times before, but a search did not work.
I rarely use the air con, so want to disconnect it. This is mainly to improve the fuel economy, so will disconnecting the belt from the air con actually save that much, or is it just as good to not use the thing (other than a few minutes every couple of weeks to keep the seals in good condition)?

do not disconnect the belt the you only have one belt i believe and it controls ur water pump power steering etc... also unless your aircon is turned on it will not use any extra fuel

Fuel economy will be negligible in my opinion. When the air con is not in use, there isn't much resistance. Anyways if you plan on removing the air con (assuming on EF onwards), you will need to get the air con blanking pulley things in place of the air con. Not sure if Ford still sell them or they even exist new anymore...but it's just a bracket that bolts to where the air con is supposed to sit and has a pulley to keep tension on the belt. If not you will need to find a shorter serpentine belt to fit.

Thanks for the replies.
Yeah, I thought that if I'm not using it, the air-con will not really affect the power/fuel economy, just nice to get a confirmation. And, I figured I would need a shorter belt to re-route for all the other running gear. Cheers
