I had the choice to choose from a AU and my now current EF XR6 and Iam glad i did not go the AU as they are simply just ugly.
If i had the doosh i would have bought a BA hands down.
Wasn't the EF (live axle)a more sucessfull v8 supercar winner than the AU (live axle) and if i recall d**k won bathurst in a EF but no one has in a AU.
Whats IRS - Independant Ratsh*t Susspension
If only our BA's could use it to win every race instead of that old outdated live rear end they use.
Does a AU rear susspension out handle a V8 Supercar's rear susspension.
If so better let Mr Crockrane in on the secret.

Hay just my 2cents worth but all in all all fords are far better Quality than what GMH can build. Just look at the problems they have at present having to lay off so many employee's.
I have also heard that the GMH product has been given a very low quality rating in the USA.(DON'T KNOW THE FULL TRUTH TO IT THOUGH).

Thank god we drive, own and breath fords.

Devil You think being beaten buy a 626 is embrassing well how's this nearly.
When i owned my 351w TD Cortina i was lined up against a chick in a gemini at willowbank.
Lights dropped and i left the gem sitting there until i did a lazy shift from 2nd to 3rd where i didn't completely pull the lever in on the prostick shifter and shifted straight to N.
I had to wait till it slowed down to about 40-50k's before it would select a gear and when it did i nailed it just in time to beat this gem by a 10th of a second.(Man how embrassing would that have been not to mention the 16.9 et. on a 13.9 dial in)
Yes i know 13.9 is sh*t but it went 8.8 1/2 @130kph track and as soon as i would hit top the lpg would starve itself as i needed a second gas mixer and carb 13.9 @155kph, 25kph over the last 200m's.
The problem being it was my every day driver and i could not get a low twin 4barrel manifold like for the 302w and could not have carbs hanging out the bonnet as DOT would have hasseled me all the time

I think it was that they did not look very appealing (s**t) and people who weren't loyal to either Ford or Holden, decided to choose a commodore because they looked better. This is because the majority of people (non-car enthusiasts) buy cars on the basis of their looks, not performance.

But then the holy BA came onto the market and f**k them all over ;)

geez ladies and gentlemen we can't have fighting amongst the ranks!!!

At my house we have every model falcon from 1993 (ED, EF, AU, and BA, oh and a sonata hehe).
Each model has they're own ups and downs but you don't start telling people off about it. My AU now has the most Ks out of all of them (120K) and has had the least problems. It is also the fastest by far, the best handling and in my opinion the best looking. I don't however pay out my parents, brother and sister for having slower cars.

We must end this bickering and fight holden together hehehe

c'mon guys and girls fire up against someone else not fellow Ford drivers!!!

In my opinion AUs are excellent cars to buy as they are excellently built, just didn't sell that well as most people didn't like the looks (XR excepted, I find most people like them). this means you can find some great buys out there....

Like I've been saying man: "I love my Fords" I didn't like the look of the AU at first but once I took it for a spin {ute} I was hooked. Tried making it lose control around corners but she recovered really quick even with your foot on WOT {wet condition}
with the previous model you have to ease of the pedal to gain traction/ recover. like the EF family car but happily transfered the owership to the wife. hehehe
I too concur, the AU's are tough cars & excellent buy. doo dry hit!

I saw the funniest thing on fathers day. saw one of this fancy late model SS V8 utes at the lights with the bonnet up & the owner scratching his head. oh she was smoking!!!

Yeah those mazda 626 2.5 v6 go pretty hard, my mate has a ford probe with the same engine in it with extractors 2 1/4" exhaust, CAI and its manual. We have raced heaps of times, before my new cam and chip, we would be pretty close to around 70ish and then i would pull away fairly quickly. The Ford Probe flogs stock commodores and he beats BAs to around 110-120k's.

Over four years, and still interesting. Now, there's something worth commenting on.

Anyone for tea, ladies?

I don't know about you guys but I own a car to DRIVE THE f**k THING. And sorry but in the driving department the AU is a step above the E series in nearly every aspect, especially IRS models as has been said.

I don't own it to stare at it parked or care if people think it looks *cool*
