Hey all,
Was considering replacing my injectors with some fully reconditioned ones I scored off ebay. Is this an easy DIY job? Anything in particular I need, or gotta watch out for? Thinking about replacing my coil pack too, once again ...is this easy enough to do? Thanks guys.

injector on a six are simple as.
- unplug all injectors start the motor ad let any fuel in the rail burn off so that you have no pressure in the rail - Unblot the the rail, from memory they are all 10mm bolts. - unbolt the regulator, again a 10mm bolt - Use a small flat blade screw driver to remove the clips that hold the injectors onto the rail - gently pull the rail at each end. it will feel as though its stuck in there but i will come out eventually. - Dont lever off anything just use your hands. - once the injectors are out use a small amount of rubber grease on the new seals so that they go in alot easir and you have lless chance of damageing the seals. need anymore help just let me know cheers

LOL When you say pull on each end of the rail, do you mean to pull it free of all 6 unclipped injectors at once, whilst leaving them still attached to the engine block? How are the injectors inserted into the engine block, are they screwed in there or just jammed in?

The injectors just push into the head, they are not bolted in in any way...so when you remove the fuel rail, the injectors will pull out with it.

OK ...I see. ...but the injectors will still be attached to the rail, right? Can't I just unclip and remove them once I pull them & the rail off the engine?

When you pull the fuel rail off, the injectors will come away with the rail...I have never removed the injectors from the rail so Im not sure how they come off...

But they DO come off the rail don't they? ...hope I won't need a new rail too, LOL Will I actually have to remove the throttle body assembly to get to the rail in the first place? Just a thought, 'cos if I do, I'll give it a good clean while it's off.

you can undo 2 bolts from memory to loosen how the rail is held into place, so you can swing it out of the way but still leave the line connected

How can you start the motor if you unplug the injectors.
I also don't think you should have any pressure in the fuel rail if the pump isn't running. You'll just spill some fuel thats in the rail. I never had any pressure. It's pretty much just like he said though. unclip the injectors, unbolt fuel rail and pull out gently. They can be stuck in there though, when you pull it out make sure you didn't leave the rubber ring inside. Putting in new ones is the reverse procedure. Smear some vaseline or something on the seals, and try not to touch the tip, even a small particle of dirt can stuff it up. Bolt it back up, plug them and get rid of the air in the fuel rail/line before starting the engine.[/quote] But no-one's said anything about how I get the injectors OFF the RAIL! And how do I bleed the air out when everything's bolted up again? And thirdly, ...can you tell I'm f**k' useless at this s**t?

they just pull out of the rails - they're held in with rubber on the fuel rail side from memory. very, very basic!

lol....my advice, buy a Gregorys manual...best $30 I ever spent...I managed to do the headgasket myself just by using the gregories...part of that was removing the fuel rail etc...was very straight forward...

Yeah, I will definitely get one of those this weekend ...then I can stop asking all these dumb-a** questions! 
...anyway, how do you bleed that air again?
