Can this be done? What's involved? Would I be better of paying a mech to do it for me?

If you are referring to installing a dizzy to an EF motor in an EF car, then there are many challengers ahead of you.
Basically to make it work, you would need to swap out the EF engine bay wiring loom and ECU for EL components. You may also have to swap out the body/interior loom and mabye the dash loom as well. Of course you would also need to source the EL ignition components such as the dizzy, coil, TFI etc. BenJ

How much does a dizzy have over the EF coil pack? I'm aiming for big power figures in the near future and want everything to be the way it should. If changing the coil pack to a dizzy is going to equate to 10 - 50rwkw later on then it seems like it's worth it to me... but if it's not going to make that much of a difference, if any, then sweet.

If you are looking at large KW figures, then you will probably be considering an Aftermarket ECU, so the question becomes redundant.

the only thing a dizzy has over a coil pack is you can advance your base timing a little to get a little more responce especially with a after market cam..possably a few kw if your lucky otherwise i would say dont do it your not going to get anything major out of it. as ben said if your chasing big power aftermarket is the way to go. but does the cost out way the results?? |

Yeah I am planning on an aftermarket ECU. Does that mean if I end up installed the AM ECU I will be able to advance timing, etc, anyway?
Is it only if I'm going to NA route that I may be able to get a few extra kws from the dizzy?

If you install an aftermarket ECU then it will control the timing so you can set it to what ever you want. The Coil packs have the patential to supply a larger spark at higher RPM's.
By the way I have a plug and play ECU kit for an EF in the "For Sale" section.
