In regards to Ba oil pick up could you use an au pickup? Just a thought.

Au pick up wont work as the Ba oil pump is on the front of eng.

Atomic do vernier cam gears so that won't be a problem, was just hoping to be able to use the vct, might have to give EMS a call today. |

The BA cams also move dependant on oil pressure and a whole bunch of other stuff. I'd lock them down with the atomic gears if it was me.
The EMS might be able to control 2 PWM outputs but how will it know what position the cams are in before they are moved? The BA ecu detects their position and moves them accordingly depending on the conditions. |

I just had a look at the x860 software. as far as PWM out puts you only have a choice between RPM, TPS or load activated. The best i think you can hope for is to use the RPM activation and setting the cams to decrease the LSA (increasing overlap) as the RPM rises. |

The BA throttle body does have a TPS. It uses it as a reference to confirm the position of the electronic throttle movements.
I don't know what effect there would be if you allowed for a manual adjustment of the throttle, while still sending the TPS Signal back to the PCM. I think it would only matter if the load/map choice was tied to the throttle input. I would have thought that from a logic point of view, the movement of the electronic throttle would be decided as a RESULT of the other movement, not CAUSE the selection of the fuel/ignition maps. Its an emissions thing. You crack the throttle, the fuel and ingnition maps change, and then finally the throttle body opens. It all happens too quick for any of us to feel the difference but generally that's the order that fly by wire throttle systems operate these days.
They've sacrificed throttle response for the sake of emissions. |
