Is there a better snorkel for my air box than my EF XR6 standard one?
What Plugs and coil are good for that little bit more performance? Will I loose too much back pressure if I have a 3" pipe from the muffler back or am I better off sticking with the 2.5"?[/img]

The AU XR8 snorkel is the way to go. it fits straight in and can be bought new from ford for $40.
Stick to 2.5" unless you are turboing. I recommend what i have for a good NA setup exhaust wise. NGKs are great plugs, dunno much about coils.

EF's run a coilpack system so you can't change the coil. As for plugs, I would just use the NGK XR6 spec plugs. As for the exhaust, a 3" is a huge overkill on the 6cyl, stick with a 2.5".

Upgrade your leads to something a little thicker than standard (although have heard the Motorcraft ones are quite competent) ... I think the XR6 spec plugs are Iridiums (unless that's the current model XR6T plugs i am thinking of).
as mentioned before ... no use going over 2.5" in pipe diameter for the exhaust. XR8 220kw snorkel (Series III) from Ford is just under the $40 mark new ... upgraded panel filter ... and also getting a mandrel bent intake pipe from airbox to throttle body gives a nice increase as well.

Megnecore leads are probably one of the best on the market and last the life of the engine unlike other leads that may only last 20,000 to 30,000 km. They're pricy though. Expect to pay $300-$400 for a set of magnecores.
Ignition systems only draw as much power as they need. Forcing more power through ignition leads and plugs only wastes power and is a gimmick. The reason why some engines need high power coils are 2 reasons. 1. If you're charging your engine, either by turbo or super, the spark plugs draw more power to produce a spark that can jump the gap because of the greater air/fuel charge density. 2. If you've got a very high revving engine, you need a good, powerful coil with a low charge time so that you've got enough power in the coil for the next spark. The EF with the coil pack doesn't have to worry about the charge time since each coil get 6 times longer to charge up compared to an engine with a single coil. NGK Irridiums came out about 2 years ago so I can't see Ford having them as standard in a 10 year old car. |

The EL GT snorkel would be better than the AU III XR8 one. Its a direct easy swap with the standard one. The AU one sometimes fouls on the thermo fan housing and can be a b**ch to line up with the screw holes. EL GT is a perfect fit.
Get some Pacemaker extractors and 2.5" cat back system. Can be done for under a $1000. Get NGK leads and plugs. No need to go over the top. |

you could change the coils. the EFs run internal igniters (in the ecu) you all you need to do is get 3 duel out let coils or 6 single coils and extend the wiring to them. splitfire, MSD, crane. take your pick |

I'm lead to believe that Aunger make an air intake for EF/EL's that has a bigger throat than the other intakes. I also believe that it is a rather cheap intake and readily available at alot of Autobarn stores.

Yeah the Aunger one looks good but seeing the EL/AU XR8 snorkles flow enough for 260+kw, I wouldn't bother spending the extra $$$ |
