Hi there I don't know if I am in the right forum ,but I have an EL 97 model s.wagon that when you use the door locks with the key or remote in hot weather keep activating and even locked with the engine running with me ouside when my wife shut the rear door.Is this a smart lock issue as it seems the auto electricians in cairns don't have much idea.Any suggestions would be appreciated.

mate i have the exact same problem, it is one of the central locking motors (actuators) in one of the doors, hopefully someone on here will be able to tell me how to diagnose which exact motor is causing the problem.
i have also heard that maybe it is just the mechanism that needs adjusting ? the rod that goes fromt he actuator to the lock or something...

yeah my EF had the same problem, changed actuators in front doors and all fixed.

Pull the door trims off and unplug one actuator then lock car. If it doesnt go nuts plug it back in the unplug the other. It should go nuts. Thats the easiest way to diagnose which one is faulty. It will only be front doors because they are the masters and the back doors are just slave actuaors

alright thanks mate, wats your advice on getting a replacement actuator ? obviously one from the wreckers would be useless as it would be susceptible to the same problem.

My advice is post a thread in the wanted section and hope another mumber has a spare one. Worst comes to worst ford still do have them but there a bit pricey last time i checked. I managed to get a second hand one through my wanted add
