hey guys just wondering if anyone has ideas on my problem....... i have an EL XR6 and the drive shaft that goes from oil pump to distributor has been replaced within a year its stuffed again.... whats happening is that the teeth on the drive shaft itself are chewing out (slowly grinding away) but the distributor itself is fine ( the teeth have no marks on them) I thought it could have been a blocked oil gallery but there is plenty of oil there.... i just have no idea whats going on.... im hopefully getting a ed reco bottom end and putting that in. but i would like to know whats going on. Also my oil pressure is fine to so i ruled the oil pump out. Any idea's anyone ?
Cheers from K.N.

i assume you mean the aux shaft?
i had the same thing happen last year, the teeth on the shaft chewed out but the teeth on the dizzy were ok.. when the shaft was replaced last time did the dizzy get replaced?? as even though the dizzy might have looked ok the dizzy shaft might have been tight causing the gear to chew out, also if you used the same dizzy when it was repaired last the gear would have had scoring on the teeth and would have started wearing the shaft out again.. it has happened to a few guys on here in the past.... |

Ahhh k seems feasible, no i didnt replace the dizzy last time cos simply the factor of i had very little to no money........ i did all the work myself after work every day. i only got the bare essentials i even was given a whole block from another falcon to grab the aux shaft from. So i basically did the whole repair for $88.00 . But this time im definantly getting everything brand new, except the new block its a reco job but she will be shmick i hope. thanx for the help !
regards, K.N.
