Hows it goin
I'm not a car expert and I was wondering if anyone has had this before. I've just noticed a sound from my car the past couple of days. When driving along, at any speed, I would just be cruising along and then just take my foot of the accellerator and I can hear this low humming sound which sounds like its coming from the front of hte car. It kinda sounds as if the brakes on one side is grinding or something I thought it might be gearbox, it still makes the sound when I put the clutch down though. ANy help would be appreciated

front wheel bearing. try moving left or right, like changing lanes, and hear if the sound changes.
However, because the motor car is basicaly a box, sounds transmitted from on place can sound as tho' the come from another place, so be aware of that too. |

Yeah I can't notice any change but its hard to hear with the other car sounds over the top. But I shouldn't of said its when I take my foot off the accelerator, but just when I'm getting up to a cruising speed around residential areas. I don't know how else to explain it

If its worse at say 80km/h when decelerating its likely to be worn rear universal joint. if so replace both while its out. Why its worse when deceleraing is beacause the pinion angle changes making the joints work harder and if worn will cause vibration.

how much would a replace of the universal joint actually cost. It actually sounds worse like you say at about 80 k's but I also think I can notice that it goes away if move to the left. Just when I thought I could save some money
