Pacemaker have 2 different types of headers for the EA-AU.
the PH 4499 and the PH 4480 (competition) The difference is the size of the Primary, secondary and outlet pipes. Model PH4480 PH4499 Pri 38mm 41mm Sec 44mm 48mm Outlet 63mm 63mm So which one would be better? or are they better in different areas? (low down, or top end) The outlet pipe is the same on both.... and the 4480 Pri and Sec pipes are smaller than the 4499, but its called "Competition" I'm reasonably new to exhaust systems! |

Most members recommend the competition type as they are *slightly* better.

The 4480's also run a 6-3-1 setup as opposed to the 4499's 6-2-1. Both types run relatively short secondaries which help boost torque, but regardless of which brand you buy, you wont feel any difference between them. Go with your pocket and get what you can afford because the fact is that 2% increase from an extra $300 you spend isnt worth it.

The competition headers are more expensive usually.

JMM race series (which I have) and herrods are too f**k expensive. JMM scavengers are around the $450mark with Pacemakers 4499, both I think should be about the top dollar you would spend on this kinda thing. Pacies 4480's are about $550 RRP. Others Im not sure about but one word of advice is that if you can find a S/H set of extractors for cheap <$100 then snap em up cause that will be your best bang for your buck. If they look a bit s**t just buy a can of heat proof header paint from auto one ect, rub em back and paint them. If you spend around $350 on a complete exhaust system I ensure you that your car will be just as quick as any bodys with the same mods. Happy hunting

I would just like to add that although I said that JMM race series are expensive, they are fundamental to running the fastest 1/4 times. All the NA street cars doing 13's run JMMs (that I know of). But given that the average person neither wants nor can afford that kinda thing its better to go for the best "bang for ya buck" approach, and your bit of left over savings can go into a wade cam for that added bit of fun and power.

Does JMM have different types of extractors for the I6? Because last I heard they were like $700! And buggered if I'd ever pay that. Go the Pacey Comps

They do make 2 types of extractors: Race and Scavenger series. The Race are like no other extractor type readily available due to thier 24"long secondaries, but the Scavengers are the on par competitor to the 4480 pacies with short secondaries. As I stated earlier, the best extractors are the cheapest for ordinary road cars seeking average performance gains, but if your not going to do head work and play with cams and other involved modifications then you will absolutely waste your money on Race series headers.

I havent been game to change the headers in my el cause i dont know s**t about it. Done it to my old xf ( with the theory put it back on the way you took it off , easy) is it the same or is there sensors i have to hook up as well with the EL Im gonna have to do it myself at one stage as all the shops in my s**t hole town wont touch anything unless i buy it from them at ripoff prices nearly 200 more then what i could pay for them off the net and thats not including install Last edited by Aaron on Mon Mar 14, 2005 8:40 pm, edited 2 times in total. |

But I assume if you get headers designed for an EL, it'll have an appropriate hole.
