I went to the REACT Dyno day today, been to one before, but this time me and a mate got our own cars done.

I was expectiing 100rwkw, Peter from Autotech said, nah she'll be good for 110kw.

First run was 114.1! and then 13.8 for some reason. So I wanted to see what the difference was with no filter and look what she got!! :D I was so happy lol

This is with no mods at all, just a brand new head and valves. Stock cam still, stock exhaust sys.

it is a 5-speed so the results arent suprising but are impressive.
remember dynos do vary but either way that is a good result

Did they advance the timing a little while it was on the dyno to get the best results?

Cheers........

yes. Less transmission loss comapred to an auto. I gained considerable power at the wheels just by swapping gearboxes

yeah manuals always pull bigger numbers that same auto.

el_fairmont at dyno days they only let small changes like removing airfilter, so doubt the timing advance.

p.s. might want to look into a better filter if its a 5kw loss having your present one on.

Nothing was changed, bar the removal of the air filter just for interest sake at the time.

The day was purely for power runs, it was a Rotary Shootout day, and there was a few of us tag alongs who got a run.

It's not a massive figure, but my engine feels very healthy, and it shows now! heh, I'm also stoked as I've never had a car dyno'd or run a 1/4' mile. :D

I've also got a couple of clips of it, but dunno where to host em as they're massive, and don't want to use a dodgy spyware image hosting site.. Might youtube it later..

It would have to be a 139kw 3.9l MPI engine as the 3.9l CPI only pumped out 120kw at the flywheel. Somehow 3kw drivetrain loss doesn't seem possible?

Although you know your stuff 'Disco Frank' so I would say you laid the sarcasm on pretty thick with that post..

cheers.........

meh i know f**k all, i cant be bothered learnign what the cars put out at the flywheel when they where new!
And he has a brand new head and valves, there might be a tad more compression in there and way better gas flow who knows , hell the dyno could be wrong for all we know!

i was asking a legimate question!

Autotech, Fyshwick.

I reckon it's a good dyno, mate's E36 325i had a custom powerchip written for him, was supposed to net 130rwkw, and he got 128.6 with the chip and intake, so that's close enough in our books.

Cheers mate.

I wanna go again after exhaust, and then again after cam install.. as the Dyno run's are fk all $ if you time it right.. ;) I hope to reach 140+rwkw with K&N, pacey's, cat, 2.5 sys, and 1636 cam.
