Hi guys a couple of weeks ago i attended my first dyno & was just wondering about a few figures & stuff. Ok here goes i have a 92 EB S-XR6 with 240 000k's i have owned for a few months i have done nothing to it so far its got a standard head not a tickford head but has had some head work surposedly as to what head work i don't know, its got pacemaker extractors & 3" exaust so just wondering are these alright figures for what i have or are these figures about normal for a standard i6 & what sort of work do u guys reckon has been done to the head.

cheers :)

taking 30% tranny/diff loss.. 134.3 means roughly 175kw at the flywheel..

That is a decent bit more than the XB XR6 started off with (161ish I think)

not a bad result for a motor with those km on it.

Tezza Bear said its got a standard head frankieh.

id be impressed with that figure from a standard head with just extractors and exhaust  id say it may have a mild cam too.

well its putting down more than my EL xr6 with mods in my signature, so either you have a freak of a motor, or there is more under there than u think..

Yeah, looks like a good figure, AFR doesn't look too bad either, often it changes much more then that! As has already been said, there looks to have been some improvements made, probably a mild aftermarket cam, as well as some cleaning up of the head, question, what sort of fuel do you run it on and will it run without pinging on regular - they may have increased the compression a bit while the head was off, and that would help get better figures too.

thanks guys for the info was just curios cause as u know when u buy a used car u don't know what the motor has done or been threw & as i seen with a couple of other cars at the dyno my car came up with better numbers wasn't sure if my dyno was the usual figures or its had a bit more work then i expected & i'd say ur right on with a mild cam cause its abit more lumpy on idle then some of the other 4L's i have owned but wasn't sure if that was usual for it being a manual as my others were auto, & as for fuel i normally run reg ulp but on the dyno day i threw in abit of V-power...

Cheers Tezza...

I think the head must've been ported and polished and maybe a mild cam smacked in there with good timing. Bloody good results I must say.

Yeah, I can't wait to do that when I'm finished putting the M90 supercharger in my EA/EL.

I want to do a faster time than a Phase 3 GTHO did on the 1/4 (14.6)

Shouldn't be that hard with a supercharged 4lt EL motor.

Don't know at the moment as the new motor is sitting on the Floor of my shed.

You can see the story here:
http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopi ... 418#846418

It's just a low km EL motor with an XR6 cam in it at the moment.. but I'm aiming for 10PSI boost and a better suited cam. It has the usual 2.5 inch mandrel bent exhaust, extractors, pod/cold air box etc as well.
