It wouldn't be a blown headgasket if you have good compresison on all 6 pots. Have you tried another ECU?

What's voltage are you getting at idle and ~2500rpm ?

harmonic balancer slipping??

I take it your already have checked the ecu relay and fuel pump relay under the coolant reservoir for corrosion. Also have you checked the fuel pressure at the rail.

Hey Troy

In the vid the tacho seems to be all over the place. To me this points to the bad earth possibility.

Hopefully CMS can figure it out tomorrow.

ok
its made a slight improvement. i dont know why?
just to try something different i changed the lower part of the dizzy cap as thats the only thing i had not changed yet.
so now it still seems like its droping a cyl under load and doesnt start backfiring until about 4500rpm but it still idles rough.
the engine shakes like it has a lumpy cam
and it kind of feels like the engine is out of ballance??
although it shakes at idle if you pull a plug lead or injector plug off you can feel the cyl drop out..

at the moment going through all the symptoms and im now thinking of the possability of bad cam lobe, lifter, rocker or valve spring?but its not rattley.
so untill it gets looked at im just clutching at straws..lol

Troy, do you think the dizzy itself is the issue?

on another note
its only started doing it last saturday on the cruise but it was only a ever so slight miss at full throttle and wasnt backfiring..
since then its got gradually worse every day..

no i dont think so..
i put a brand new one about 2 weeks ago.
and i have since brought a second hand one fron the wreckers and neither of them make a difference..
joe did mention the posabillity of my aux shaft being worn causing ignition timing fluctuation.. but he was unsure untill he operates..lol

dont do that lol

I bought the missus a '99 Mazda the other day, and while it looks flash i can tell you my EF Fairmont feels tighter, drives better, has more features, more power, less rattly etc etc.

f**k the small cars & f**k the 4 bangers !!
