well i actually went out and got a nice replacement today..
a 1994 ed futura. got it for a sweet $1000
the body is heaps better than the ea and its a good base for mods.
ill be swapping everything from the ea into this.

and the au engine will be pulled down and i will investigate and fix the engine.(if its repairable) and fit it to the ed at a later stage..

Shame to see the EA bite the dust though..

I almost did the same thing with mine when I noticed rust coming though in a couple of spots..

I get attached to things though, so I've started migging them up instead.

Yeah, I think you went the right way - if you're unhappy with the EA.

Being a late ED, you might find it has an EF block - knock sensor threaded hole, and 12 counterweight crank. Looks like most of the looms may be in place for 4 x power windows, along with the climate control ambient air sensor.

I think it does have ef block and head??
the head is a 94da.(edit...94ab)
and the car is a 5th month 94..

its even better if the power windo loom is there aswell

Yeah the EBII's/ED's were blessed in alot of ways that the EA/EB series I aren't. *grumbles about ford not making up its mind on the base harness*

EDIT: Also you don't have to d**k around putting in the EBII/ED lower dash :D

i dont get it?

for someone who is knowledgable & mod happy like yourself, a stuffed block should be nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Instead youve spent $1000 on another old car with a motor that prolly done a zillion km's, and now you gotta swap everything over.

but good luck with the new project, and hopefully ends up as good as the one it replaced

I never noticed any difference in the lower dash.. Is there one?

(my car is a late 90 EA fairmont Ghia.)

Light grey versus greyish yellow (mainly from age of them now)? I think the Ghia's had light grey

a stuffed engine isnt really a problem.
but with all the little things that piss me off with the ea are good in the ed.
and its only got 205,000 kms.
and true its $1000 but considering it has rego and has better paint and a straighter body than the ea.
i think its more a win win in the long run..
and now i get the pleasure of moding this one all over again without the little trial and error things i had while doing the ea..

I can confirm that as the car has cruise, the loom for the power windows will be there. You will just need to plug the door looms in and the Pwr Window switch and you are good to go.
