Hi all,
The radiator in my EF split a tank today and I will be hitting the wreckers tomorrow for a cheapy as I'm pretty strapped for cash. My question is will the EA/D radiator fit if I can't find a decent EF/L one? Thanks

it can physicaly fit, but the lower hose is bigger diameter on ea/ed compared to ef/el and some dont have provisions for the thermo fans..

Also, the early E-series radiators have a straight hosetail for the header tank instead of an elbow like in EF/EL. It would require a different hose to work.

Only posting due to i though of D series honda motors
And D series honda motors = i like my honda like i like my girls with Ds instead of Bs But a EF/EL can go into a EA-ED its the hose's are slight different as mentioned and as mentioned some dont have provisions for the thermo fans But i am sure you will find a EF/EL as they are so common in wrecking yards But what about an AU radiator as they are most "wrecking yards" bread and butter ? |

Well 4 hrs and 8 liters of water later I'm home.. (Although I was driving from the CBD to Ed-Parks to get to work. So she had plenty of time to cool down).... Bloody cars!!
Thanks very much for the replies guys. Although not quite the info I was hoping for, the odds are good there will be an EF/L sitting there with a halfways decent radiator in it. And at $69 with a 30 day warranty I think I'll come out ahead. Plus the wreckers is all of a 3 min drive away, so I'll just top her up and drive there, beats lugging tools and a radiator home

if you have to grab an EA-ED one, grab the lower hose as well , chop your EF lower just at the end of the water pump. the EA-ED lower will slip over the pump snout and hose (my ED has an EL engine and thermos's on what i think is the original radiator and was done like this MANY years ago) you will need to modify the bit where the snorkel bolts to the top of the radiator too.

you can get cheap alloy radiators new for around $100 why pay $70 for a used one??

i put a EF radiator in my NC only thing was i had to get the pipe from the coolant reservoir to the radiator as the NC one is on a 90 angle the EF one is straight rest was a straight swap all holes, trans lines were the same

Because I need it fixed ASAP, i.e. tomorrow (today now ) it's my only transport and I'm well short of cash of late. And the wreckers is just down the rd from my home so it's the most viable option ATM. Believe me, if I were a bit better off and had alternate transport I wouldn't be getting a 2nd hand one.Thanks for the links though.. hopefully in a few weeks I can get the cash together for a nice shiny new one.

And also... I'm an E series owner.
Oy Vey Troyman!! You should by now be knowing how these things are vorking!! Vhy vould I be paying $100 for radiator? Ven I can be getting vone for $69?? Don't you know how many packet of 2 minute noodle you can buy vith $31.. I could eat like king for veeks on that!!! Shame for your free spending vays.. you bring disgrace on E series Temple.... Well she's all fixed now
Runs a little bit warmer than before but the old radiator was a heavy duty alloy job (thicker core). And I replaced the thermostat as well so that might also factor into it. I managed to find an EF at the wreckers with a fairly new looking standard copper core one. So radiator, coolant, new thermostat and gasket... all done for under $100, I'm happy about that.Good tip for using self serve wreckers, look around the engine bay and windscreen for service stickers. The EF I found had a 'Natrad' sticker on the rad support panel dated 2012, so it was either replaced or serviced last year. Also look out for 'Grandpa' spec cars, this one looked in good shape aside from the side impact damage.
