hey all hope some1 can help me here....

My father inlaw had a eb multipint running bad so he got a ea centerfire and put the engin from ea into eb...Was running bloody great for about a week then started ideling rough , now when it gets to normal op temp it ideals bad has power surges and power loss at take off if it just dosnt stll alltogether..When that happens it will start again 20% of the time as long as i put foot to floor, or it just dosnt start...When left for a while to cool down its good again till it warms up...When it dose stall i can see a lot of fule in the throtal body under the two injectors and a really strong fule smell....

What iv done so far..

replaced fule pump
replaced throteal postion sensor
got a replacment moduel for the dizzy (havent fitted it yet.
Fule filter only 4mths old but have a new 1
Replaced ecu with ecu from ea
Reset the ecu (worked for about 2-3 days then problem came back
Had a crack in the pcv valve tree thingy on the inlet ( the part the brake booster hose gose to)
so i replaced it( connected the hose to air filter but not sure what the middle hose is?

Going to fit moduel on dizzy today will post results.....

Please forgive my spelling and any advice would be great

the centrepoint dizzie is not suitable for the multipoint & vice versa unless you change some wiring etc. [think its the same with the ecu??]

if the car runs great when cold but runs crap when hot its heat related ... there was someone on here at one stage having 'similar' probs - don't remember the outcome

iv cheacked the map sensor hose it seems good, the dizzy is the one that was with the engine so ild say its the centerfire as the engine is centerfire ...Engine had no probs when it was in the ea body, but now its in a eb body nothing but probs..
i just cheaked the plugs and one of the inserts came out aswell and it was a little mangeled..going to retap and put another helicoil insert in and plugs

Hose from map sensor to intake manifold?
Mine had similar symptoms, that hose ended up being cracked...

Did you check the manifold side of the map sensor hose? They can crack there too and you can only see it from under the car. It could be the actual MAP sensor too.

So did you try the temp sensor?
Some engines use 2 temp sensors, 1 for the temp guage on the dash, the other for the ecu.
My mother in-laws car(nissan maxima) was flooding/running rich and would sometimes even stall when you stopped at the lights. You had to hold the throttle down flat to clear the flood and it would re-start. Turned out to be the temp sender for the ecu, the dash was reading fine.

Cheers Mick
