Hi, I am terrible trouble with my 1989 EA Fairmont Ghia.
The problems are: * The engine is tired - a mechanic told me this when I had a fuel pump replaced a few months ago. It is getting worse as I am travelling from Warrnambool to Melbourne regularly (that is 400km runs in 21 year old car). The engine is idling (even on gas - it is dual fuel) and making a chunk noise. * The Auto Electrics are going - the power window does not open on the driver's side anymore (I have had problems with it previously but not this bad). Also the speaker in that door is make awful noises and have to keep banging the door. * The other thing is that my car is using too much water. I filled up the water (coolant) about 4 days ago and the light is now coming on and beeping at me. I don't want to spend more money on the car as it is very old, and I don't have the money for a engine rebuild. I need some advice.. Thank you. |

unfortunately unless you buy a new/er car you will have to spend money on it, and even then you will most likely have to spend money on the new/er car you just bought.
engine upgrade is easy and cheap enough. find a low km ED engine, easy replacement. clean the switches, test the window regulator and replace if required. replace the speaker. using too much water is probably a head gasket, see my first point ^ cheers |
