Hey, have done a quick search and can't find anything relative to this.

My auto EA CFi has just started idling stupidly high, and this causes it to accelerate by itself. I have checked the vacuum hose from the inlet manifold to the MAP sensor, and also removed and cleaned the solenoid near the throttle cable that has the post exposed from it. It's very clean now, and all springs are fine, and everything lightly lubed.

Is the post on this solenoid supposed to retract all the way?

Could it be the MAP sensor?

What else could be causing this fast idle speed, about 3000rpm+?

There would be tons of posts on this problem.

A dead or dying TPS sensor will cause this problem on a CPI. Tend to crap themselves every year or so.

Cheers, will try swaping it with another. That's the sensor that sits on the TB between the injectors, right?

UPDATE: Replaced the vacuum hose which appeared ok, and cleaned the TPS inner and it appears to be fine now. Went for a 30min drive, and nailed it everywhere to try and induce the problem. It appears to be resolved!

I couldn't clean the actually contacts inside the TPS, only the moving part inside it. It seems a lot more responsive now, as there's no leak in the vacuum to the MAP sensor either.
