anything to do with the ECU or electronics is gonna cost more than $200.

if you have an ebay account, and you (or you know a friend) that can install extractors then you can pick up Pacemakers for $350 (places charged $600 for them with fitting)

How much did the 3 3/4" exhaust system cost kapul? Also would there be any merit in upgrading the standard Tickford extractors on the ED XR6 to something else? Obviously they'd have different characteristics but would the cost be worth it?

I made it up myself. I was at the tip and i found a burnout out F350 and they had the 3.75" stainless steal exhaust. So i quickly grabbed that before the recyclers came! The turbo muffler was $50 mates rates and i installed it all myself. Also a hollowed out cat gives u a bit more peformance and sound ;)

E-Series parts are worth s**t dude,
I'd give away a MPFI conversion I have sitting here, including ECU and loom lol
Do what southy said, piss off the CPI first, it's completely useless wasting money on anything else while you still have it.
MPFI will get you better fuel economy, more power, smoother running...
There is alot of info about MPFI conversions on here.
Search.

so what exactly do i need to convert my engine to a mpfi system.
it sounds easier if i use parts from ea to ed....................or is it just as easy to use ef to el parts? ( they have a different inlet manifold and dont have a distributor?)

Live near any big hills?

Might have trouble going back up them though...

On a more serious note the best bet would be to find a 5spd multipoint EA that has a f**k body and get all the stuff from that. Thats what my brother did and picked one up for $500

With MPFI and a T5 the car will be a totally new beast and you wont have trouble with any stockish auto non XR falcons up to the BAs IMO.

as most of the guys here have said, do the mpfi conversion, then the manual box, the exhaust with decent extractors, then the induction (snorkel filter), maybe the thermo fan conversion, and then cam's + head work, after this it gets costly.

Best thing as mentioned is find a ripped up old mpfi 5spd EA and chop the parts you need. then just wreck teh rest of it.

Also a pod filter will get you JFA. get a decent panel filter like K and N etc, and make sure you keep the EA intake from the airbox to the throttle body. dont worry about chip's yet, do the rest first then get it chipped later if it needs that little more..

No offence, but from reading your past posts, i dought you have the know how or experiance to do the conversion... you may have to find someone who is willing to put time into doing it for you...

My dad will help me out...............he has restored a few cars.
He told me to find out what parts are needed to convert my car to a mpfi and he will help me to get it done.
So what exactly do i need.............can someone tell me what all the parts are that i need to do this conversion................is it better to use the parts off of an ea, do i need the air box, computer, distributor etc. will the wiring loom just plug in?
cheers.

ps. im asking so i can become smarter and learn how to do these things myself!..............im still at school and dont have a ton of money to spend on my car so any help is greatly apreciated.
