quickest and cheapest way is extractors...unfortunately power comes at a price and theres no cheap fix. Go extractors first, then exhaust system, i have 3 3/4 stainless steal with a turbo muffler...sounds realy nice and kicks a** on the road! eventually make sure u got a manual gearbox, nothin outdoes the T5 and get a cam. the rpd cams or wateva are apaprently pretty good as is my crow cam stage 3, get ur head shaved a few thou and place in flat top poistons...this is getting into the more expensive ways to get power... chipping the computer is a good idea as well, a nice LSD is the 3.4:5 thats pretty much all the things u can do without spending BIG dollars such as supercharger kits, nos kits or turbo kits

can someone tell me what i can do to my ea falcon overhead cam engine to increase its power. can i fit a pod filter to it and wats cheap and affective, could i get a super charger under $700 buks and put it on my self? sorry guys bout all teh questions i just go tteh car and keen for sum more grunt cheers.....

- get an aftermarket cam,
- the pod filter would be cheap and easy BUT you need to create a heat shield (so the engine heat doesnt heat the air that is getting sucked into the engine), or you could mount the pod lower in the bumper.
- if you add another "0" to that $700 then yes. supercharger (kits) usually start from $5500

if you have $700 to spend on the car, get extractors and a 2.5" catback system. it will sound better, be better on fuel, and it will have a power increase

yer i forgot the cold air intake.also u cld put a wolf3d computer or any other aftermarket ecu in, u cld get bigger injectors, bigger and better throttle bodies etc. BTW for extractors i highly reccomend genies. Im ownin da road in my small town,i have a few mods but i rekon its my extractors and exhaust that are realy doin it for me. My mate got brand new peformance pacemaker extractors with all the pipes being the same length etc and put them on his ef.he still doesnt have a chance against my ed...maybe the driver ;)

How much did the 3 3/4" exhaust system cost kapul? Also would there be any merit in upgrading the standard Tickford extractors on the ED XR6 to something else? Obviously they'd have different characteristics but would the cost be worth it?

chewie, the xr6 and the stock extractors are the same thing, yes it is very worth while upgrading to somthing better, but do the cat back first.

kapul, your kidding right 3.75" exhuast??

So the tickford extractors are something I should consider upgrading? Also what sort of price would I be looking at for a 2 1/2" exhaust system? (it's got a 2" exhaust on it by the looks of it) What is this cat back thing that everyone keeps talking about anyway?

stractors and a decent cam. you'll pay $600 the lot at the most but it'll drive good and might even bring the fuel consump down.

the cat-back, is from the cat-conerter back lol, in the exhuast system you have headers/extractors, then cat, then cat-back exhaust.

a decent redback cat-back system with either 1 or 2 mufflers will cost 220>250.

Convert it to MPFI before you do anything.... its not hard and costs less than an exhaust... get all the s**t for about 200 buks..... its not that your car hasnt got a computer, because it does.... its just a different type of ECU, the fuel is injected into 2 cylinders rather than all 6...

then after u convert it, get some extractors, cam, exhaust....

My EA only has exhaust, extractors and Camshaft done and it pulls a healthy 14.6

No EFI is something completly different...

You own a CPI 3.9L motor..... Single point injection

The Conversion to MPFI will cost you about $200 in parts alone... you must do the work yourself. dont bother getting someone to do it, they will rip you off hardcore....

Mine is a 5 speed manual...
