Hiya guys, i have a 1990 4spd EA wagon. Just wondering if an EF/EL auto will fit into the car OR can i only go upto ED?

ef el will fit straight in..just you won't have a dip stick for it anymore...

Ford stopped having dip sticks for the auto on approx Feb 96. That was also when they changed the Power steer fluid to Tractor tranny fluid. (part number R1-424)

Kewl so all that i have to do is drop the EA box out and the EF will go straight up?

Yep! Just make sure you put your speedo drive in it.

Ok kewl so the speedo drive will be a straight change over? Also i dont know if this has any bearings but my speedo is around 5kms out at the moment. Anything can be done bout that you reckon?

What wheels are you running? or what size tyres are you running? This can effect the speedo.

Well since buying the car i still haven't fully fixed up the wheels, The back ones are 185/75/14 the fronts are 195/75/14

185's are too small. tightar5es bought those to put on. swap the front to the rear, and see how that goes.

isnt 185 the width of the wheel?

Yes, but the 75 is the aspect ratio. so the 195/75R14 is taller than a 185/75R14. The side wall height is 75% of the width of the tyre. see?

Yeah i know when i have some more $$$ it is on the list of things to be done cause they re-treads (SHUDDERS) as well
