Gday first post here sorry if it's already been discussed,am looking for standard fuel pressure for a 6cyl eb wagon ,have checked and only running 10 psi I'm not sure but I suspect it might have a CPI pump in it.Can anyone shed some light on what pressures both systems should run,I would think it should run at least 30 psi,any help would be appreciated.

Thanks ,have you got any idea what the CPI systems run because pump was replaced 18 months ago and has been playing up since. Is there a difference between the two pumps or is it just a coincidence.

CPI pump is a lower pressure pump than the MPFI witch runs at approx 30-40 PSI depending on the regulator (stock - 250Kpa and XR6 - 300Kpa) but the CPI ones run at 20Psi it will run but like a dog due to a lack of preasure and flow I have a stock one out of my Ed xr6 you can have cheap if you want to PM me an offer

ea cpi pump runs at 100kpa, mpi pumps are 275kpa
i have fixed a couple of ea fuel pumps that had low pressure problems, 3 psi from one. on the back? of the pump there is a stainless tag/cover which clips on, gently remove and inside there is a spring and ball bearing. with these taken out of the pump i ran some clean petrol through them into a icecream container, some big chunks/grains of dirt came out. i ran about 5 litres through it and eventually it came out clean. i put the bearing and spring and cover back on, put the pump back in and got another 10,000kms out of it. i would replace the filter on the pump and the one inline infront of the back wheel while you are there. might be worth pulling the tank out annd cleaning things up inside too. |

Thanks for the replies and the offer of a secondhand pump,I think I'll be done with it and bang in a new one and see how she goes.
