Hi, I need your help!! - I bought my 1992 EB1 Falcom about 2 x weeks ago , has been going great but now when your coasting along it wants to stick to the speed your doing even when you take your foot off the accelerator ?? - this can happen if the car is hot or cold & dosnt matter if your doing 20, 40, 60 or 100 klms/h. I have to put it in neutral for it to remember that I am not accelerating then it goes back to a normal idle until you go back to a constant speed? - & it happens all over again. I have jammed CRC up the cable (both ends) but no difference - please, any idea's anyone?

The cable looks ok, I recently cleaned the engine bay with high pressure - perhaps that may have caused?

sounds like u need to replace the cabel, check that the throttle body valve is clean free of s**t, and that the spring has good tension

its a s**t but then again its a s**t with a t5 lol
well i have a very similar problem and i just replaced the throttle cable but before oyu go whacking a new one in buy some automotive silicone spray ans spray that down the cable and lube the cable up heaps for a better acceleration |

Thanks guys - perhaps I will try the silicon spray on Monday, a mate wrekons that it isnt the cable because you can rev all you like & it dosnt stick - its just when cruising ???
Do you still think its the cable?

My bet would be the throttle position sensor

I don't see the cable been the problem here, if it goes back to normal after been put into neutral, and he's got CRC in there, shouldve made a difference.
Sounds like your ECU is getting a false reading. Throttle position sensor, hmmm, shouldn't control things on cruising? Try disconnecting the ISC(Idle Speed Controller) and see if that helps. If it does, deeper problems, if not... I guess its the cable.. strange but. Cheers

throttle possition sensor isnt gona help u there prolly, nor would disconecting the idle speed controler (as the car wont start unless u have ur foot on the accelerator).
Odd problem i think we need more info or for u to replace the cable n get back to us as to how it goes.... old cars...fun eh |

Well guys - this time I totaly soaked the cable in CRC
 & certainly got it in there, took it for a drive with a mate & it didnt do it but alas when I took it out a couple hours later there it was again, it seems to stick to about 1700 revs when stuck & when you brake in traffic you can feel it pushing then all of a sudden it backs down to normal revs, whilst cruising if stuck - drop it back to second & she revs up to about 3000s or throw it in neutral & it revs up then goes back down to idle  . I persisted & drove 40klms tonight in traffic & after about 10 to 15 mins of driving it stopped doing it? got in it again 4 hours later & same all over again & went back to normal after say 10minutes? - I got a mechanic booked in to look at it this Thursday - I will report what he says but hey guys if you have any more idea's/tests - let me have em!
